Human cardiac stem cells can be isolated from endomyocardial biopsies. Such cells mediate cardiac regeneration and improve heart function in a mouse infarct model. The cells can be used for autologous, allogeneic, syngeneic, or xenogeneic therapeutic applications in patients. The stem cells can be genetically modified to enhance their therapeutic activity.

L'invention concerne des cellules souches cardiaques humaines pouvant être isolées de biopsies endomyocardiques. De telles cellules assurent la médiation de la régénération cardiaque et améliorent le fonctionnement cardiaque dans un modèle infarctus d'une souris. Ces cellules peuvent être utilisées pour des applications thérapeutiques autologues, allogéniques, syngéniques ou xénogéniques chez des patients. Les cellules souches peuvent être génétiquement modifiées pour que leur activité thérapeutique soit augmentée.
