ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A carpet cutting tool having a body member formed by a pair of spaced, opposed leg portions connected together along an edge of each of the leg portions by a web arranged so that a sheet receiving slot is formed between the leg portions. Mounted on one of the leg portions of the body member for movement per- pendicular to the web thereof is a handle assembly which supports a cutter assembly arranged so as to extend through an opening provided in the one of the leg portions and engage carpeting or other sheet material disposed between the leg portions. By pull- ing the tool relative to the material being cut, a strip of the material can be obtained for use as a baseboard covering, and the like.
