Non-woven carpets are made by a process whereby anchoring fibres are attached to the primary backing, to protrude from the opposite side from the pile fibes. The anchoring fibres are attached to the primary backing by means of the adhesive used to attach the plie fibres, and serve to reinforce the binder, with consequent improvements in the strength and durability, particularly the shear strength, of the carpet.
