ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to carpet, an intermediate carpet material and a method of making carpet and intermediate carpet material. An anchoring material is attached to the primary backing of the carpet such that the anchoring material extends from the primary backing into the binder. Thus, the binder will be able to adhere to the anchoring material in addition to adhering to the surface of the primary backing and the pile. Therefore, the primary backing is less susceptable to slipping or shearing away from the binder.
