Abstract of the Disclosure A carriage according to the invention for transporting and spreading ballast and bench material for the maintenance of railroad embankments and the like more precisely is characterized in that it comprises a carriage body in the form of two funnels, which in relation to the transverse central line of the carriage are located symmetrically relative to each other and downwardly open each into a feeder directed obliquely downward and towards the carriage transverse central line, which feeders are provided to discharge material onto a conveyor, which in its turn is adjustable to both sides from the carriage longitudinal central line. The present invention overcomes the disadvantages of prior art carriages where discharge doors are opened manually, a risk of accident is involved and it is difficult to adjust the spread capacity.
