ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A carrier strip for holding labels to a support, such as the edge of a shelf. The carrier includes a rear wall which can be attached to the support and a transparent front wall which is connected to the rear wall so as to form a pocket between the walls. The reduce mis-reads when a bar code scanner is used to read a bar code on a label in the pocket, at least one of the surfaces of the transparent front wall has an approximately uniform, unoriented roughness. The carrier strip can be made by co-extruding a plastic composition at relatively high pressure through a relatively cool die.
