ABSTRACT The carrier unit that is formed from an essentially U-shaped extruded profile incorporates projections that are continuous in the longitudinal direction. These can be used as screw, clamp, snap and plug channels for the attachment of functional elements that go to make up such a distribution unit. In order to provide for the attachment of the terminal strips, the multi-functional extruded profile has at the edge of one arm a completely cylindrical shape and, on the edge of the other arm of the U, a screw channel. The terminal strip is installed with corresponding hollow cylindrical cut-outs on the fully cylindrical moulded edge that forms a point of rotation and, on the opposing side surface, the flange that is formed thereon, by means of a screw connection. Because of the point of rotation, simple installation of the terminal strips is possible and even in the case of a fully installed cross-connection system it is possible to pivot [the terminal strips] during fault-finding sequences or in the event that repairs are necessary.
