Laminated moldable materials and carrying containers including handgun holsters made from such laminated materials, with appearance and texture which may resemble leather and optionally having shapes which would be very difficult to manufacture of leather. The laminated material includes a core of polyethylene or other synthetic plastic foam, and interior and outer layers of thermoplastic resin, knitted cloth, or therm- ally moldable imitation leather. Carrying containers are provided which have smooth non-fraying edges and which may include over-molded edge portions and belt loop attachments of over-molded thermoplastic resin. Articles are shaped by heating laminated material and then forming it in a mold which provides desired shapes. Thereafter, plastic resin may be injection over-molded along the edges and in other places where attachments are desired.
