A strap which is flexible but relatively non-stretchable and secured to the cross bar of a first or master shopping cart and then threaded through underneath the handles several additional slave shopping carts in front of the first or master cart and then reversely folded on itself and releasably secured to nestingly engage a predetermined quantity of ideally no more than six shopping carts is disclosed. Specifically a buckle-like member is provided at one end of the strap, releasably securable material at a mid-portion on the strap, and a mating releasable material on the remote end of the strap which is reversely folded to engage the first releasable material. Optionally, colored and reflective trim can be employed on the strap. The method of the invention contemplates securing a plurality of shopping carts in nested relationship by threading the same with a strap which can be self- secured to itself.
