A carton and blank (10) for forming a carton for packaging a plurality of articles, for example bottles comprising a plurality of panels for forming a tubular structure including a top wall panel having opposed side edges (28, 30) and end edges (46, 46a). The top panel (18) is provided with first and second spaced apertures (68, 70) provided therein so as to define a handle (66), and a score line (92, 94, 98, 99) extends from the handle to a cut line (89) disposed along a side edge (28, 30) of the top wall panel (18) thereby to direct lifting stresses away from the handle (66).
