The carton has apertures in its side walls (21, 22) for receiving the heel portions of the cans (12) and gusset portions between each side wall (21, 22) and the top panel (13). When assembled, one panel (35) of each gusset portion extends partially across the open end area of the carton to prevent dislodgement of the tops of the cans (12).
