ABSTRACT An easily openable carton structure having an end wall including an interior flap hingedly connected to one of the carton side walls, said interior flap having a line of weakness defining shear initiating and non-shear initiating portions thereof and an exterior flap hingedly connected to another of said carton side walls secured in overlapping relation to said interior flap. In a particularly preferred embodiment, opening of the end of the carton is carried out by lifting upwardly on the hingedly connected edge of the shear initiating portion of the interior flap, thereby causing separation of the secured portion of the exterior flap from the non-shear initiating portion of said interior flap.
