Abstract In a cartridge magazine (3) for pistols (1) it is customary to provide below the magazine sleeve (4) comprising a lower abut- ment plate (7) and the slide plate (8) for retaining the lower spring abutment plate a bead-shaped rextension (10) serving as a finger support for the hand gripping the pistol handle. According to the invention, the bead-shaped finger support extension (10) - seen in cross section - is designed as a hollow box (11) closed roundabout, the magazine sleeve extending to the lower edge (12) of the bead-ahaped finger support extension (10) and the slide plate (8) for retaining the abutment plate (7) for the spring (5) being provided in the plane of said lower edge. As a result, the capacity for the number of cartridges (13) which can be housed in the cartridge magazine is essentially increased, although the length of the cartridge magazine (3) together with the bead-shaped finger aupport extension (10) is not increased.
