CARTRIDGE TYPE MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Cartridge type magnetic recording and reproducing system comprises a magnetic transducer head which is arranged externally of a cartridge when the cartridge has been loaded, tape withdrawal means for drawing a length of tape from the cartridge for pressing it against the magnetic transducer head during recording and reproducing operations, a take-up motor for rotating one of two reel mounts to take-up tape slack into the cartridge when the press contact of the transducer head with the tape is released, and brake means for applying a brake force to the other reel mount.
