915,123 ABSTRACT A cartridge (10) for use in a disk drive machine. The cartridge (10) includes a compression spring (24) for biasing a plunger (22) to a storage position against a memory disk assembly (14), frictionally restricting the disk assembly (14) within the housing (12) when the cartridge is removed from the machine. Additionally, the cartridge (10) includes an access door (26) coupled to the plunger (22) by a tension spring (34) which will bias the door (26) to a fully closed position when the plunger (22) is in its storage position, and also bias the plunger (22) against the compression spring (24) to a retracted position spaced from the disk assembly (14), permitting rotation of the disk assembly (14) when the door (26) is opened by a disk drive machine. The use of this structure is a simplification of the prior art which also eliminates the tendency of the access door to warp and thus ineffectively close.
