The invention is a customized cash drawer made from attaching seperable connectors for data and power ports through its surface. The invention includes for embedding an uninterruptible power supply that augments the power connectors but also the weight and therefore the function as "safe". The invention rationalizes the configuration of the point of sale terminal around the cash drawer to be the central physical component of the POS terminal. POS devices mounted on and near the cash drawer may have all their cabling terminated at the drawer, simplifying installation of systems and more readily tolerating existing counter design that do not anticipate computers.
