A B S T R A C T CASING PACK AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING EXTERNAL WELL CASING CORROSION To prevent or minimize costly external casing corrosion it is proposed to prepare and use a casing pack comprising barium ions. As barium ions eliminate dissolved sulphate, H2S and CO2 and suppress bacterial activity, they impart the desired properties of permanent stability and non-corrosiveness to the casing pack.
