The invention is a method and an apparatus for slotting a pipe having a longitudinal axis extending therethrough. A pipe bed supports and releasably secures the pipe to the pipe bed. A cutting head, including at least one cutter for slotting the pipe, is located adjacent the pipe bed. Positioning means relatively position the pipe bed and the cutting head such that the pipe wall is perforated by the cutter at a location of contact between the cutter and the pipe wall. Longitudinal moving means relatively move the cutting head and the pipe bed for a distance in a direction which is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pipe secured to the pipe bed such that the pipe wall is cut by the cutter to form a slot having a length.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant de rainurer les tubages selon un axe longitudinal. Un lit de pose soutient et maintient le tuyau de manière libérable. Une tête coupante, comprenant au moins un outil de coupe pour rainurer le tubage, est placée en position adjacente au lit de pose. Des moyens de positionnement donnent une configuration relative entre le lit de pose et la tête coupante, de sorte que la paroi du tubage soit perforée par l'outil de coupe en un point de contact entre cet outil et la paroi dudit tubage.
