A casket shell includes an elongated inner box of unitary construction having a generally horizontal bottom panel. Head end, foot end, first side, and second side panels are integrally appended to the bottom panel and extend upwardly therefrom. The casket shell also includes an elongated outer box of unitary construction having a generally horizontal bottom panel. First and second side panels are appended to first and second side edges of the bottom panel, respectively, and extend upwardly therefrom. A head end panel is integrally appended to head end edges of each of the first and second side panels and extends therebetween and a foot end panel is integrally appended to foot end edges of each of the first and second side panels and extends therebetween. The bottom panel, first and second side panels, and head and foot end panels of the outer box define an interior region of the outer box. The inner box is congruently disposed in the interior region of the outer box and a core is sandwiched between the inner box and the outer box. The core includes a top surface attached to the inner box and a bottom surface attached to the outer box to stabilize and strengthen the core and the casket shell.

Les panneaux des premier et deuxième côtés sont reliés respectivement aux bords des premier et deuxième cotés du panneau inférieur et s'étendent vers le haut. De plus, les panneaux des premier et deuxième côtés sont reliés en entier aux extrémités d'un panneau avant et d'un panneau arrière. Le panneau inférieur, les panneaux des premier et deuxième côtés, les panneaux avant et arrière de l'enveloppe extérieure définissent une zone à l'intérieur de cette enveloppe. L'enveloppe intérieure rentre parfaitement dans cette partie. Un noyau est ainsi formé entre les deux enveloppes. Ce noyau comprend une partie supérieure qui est reliée à l'enveloppe intérieure et une partie inférieure qui est reliée à l'enveloppe extérieure, ce qui permet de stabiliser et de renforcer le noyau et la coque du cercueil.
