PHO. 78-514 ABSTRACT: 1 A cassette for a record carrier in the form of a tape comprises a substantially rectangular cassette housing and a U-shaped bracket which is detachably connectable to said cassette- housing, which brackets engages with the two side walls of the cassette housing with its two limbs. The cassette housing and the bracket can be interconnected both in a first position relative to each other, in which the front wall of the cassette housing is remote from the cross- piece of the bracket and the cassette thus formed in ready for operation, and in a second position relative to each other, in which the front wall of the cassette housing faces the cross-piece of the bracket and the bracket protects said wall. For retaining the cassette housing and the bracket to each other in both positions there is provided a double- acting latching device between these two parts.
