ABSTRACT This invention relates to a cassette base for a tape recorder which is easily molded and assembled, and which levels and positions a cassette having a pair of reels wound with magnetic tape when the reels are fitted onto feed and take-up reels. The cassette base has rising portions abutting against an opening lid formed in front of the cassette so as to open the lid. The base also has a number of levelling portions abutting against the bottom surface of the cassette so as to set a level for the cassette.
