An apparatus for counting microorganism colonies on at least one disposable microorganism culturing medium having a substantially planar substrate. The apparatus is adapted to interact with a cassette holding a number of similar substrates at once. The apparatus includes an imaging means capable of detecting colonies on the substantially planar substrate, a cassette positioning means for moving the cassette so that the substrates supported within the cassette are moved sequentially into a predetermined position relative to the imaging means, and an ejecting means for ejecting a substantially planar substrate in turn from the cassette when that substrate is in the predetermined position from the cassette and into an imaging position adjacent the imaging means. Suitable cassettes and a method for counting colonies on substrates supported within a cassette are also disclosed.
Un appareil permet de dénombrer des colonies de micro-organismes présentes sur au moins un milieu de culture de micro-organismes jetable doté d'un substrat sensiblement plan. Cet appareil est conçu pour fonctionner avec une cassette renfermant plusieurs substrats similaires. Il comporte un dispositif d'imagerie pouvant détecter des colonies sur le substrat sensibement plan, un dispositif de positionnement de cassette qui déplace la cassette pour que les substrats qui s'y trouvent arrivent tour à tour dans une position déterminée par rapport au dispositif d'imagerie, et un dispositif d'éjection qui éjecte à son tour de la cassette le substrat sensiblement plan arrivé à ladite position et le place en position d'obtention d'images à côté du dispositif d'imagerie. On décrit aussi des cassettes appropriées et un procédé de dénombrement des colonies présentes sur les substrats d'une cassette.
