CASSETTE HOLDING DEVICE FOR TAPE RECORDING AND/OR REPRODUCING APPARATUS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a cassette-type recording and/or reproducing apparatus, for example, for recording and reproducing video signals on a magnetic tape which is wound on and extends be- tween supply and take-up reels rotatable within a cassette housing, a cassette holding device is provided for receiving the cassette in an elevated, conveniently tilted position and then displacing the cassette to a lowered, operative position at which locating posts projecting from the chassis engage the cassette housing from below for precisely locating the same and rotatable reel support and drive members on the chassis extend axially upward into corresponding sockets in the supply and take-up reels. During at least the final increment of movement of the cassette to its operative position, the cassette hold- ing device maintains the cassette housing substantially hori- zontal, that is, substantially in parallel orientation to the plane of the chassis, while moving the cassette in a direction substantially perpendicular to such plane for ensuring proper engagement with the locating posts and the reel support and drive members. The disclosed holding device includes a holder for the cassette which is mounted for the above described move- ments relative to the chassis by mounting assemblies disposed at the opposite sides of such holder. Each of the mounting assemblies is made up of a relatively long first lever pivot- ally connected, at its opposite ends, to the chassis and to the respective side of the holder for swinging between a posi- tion substantially parallel to chassis plane, when the holding device is in its operative position, and an inclined position when the holding device is in its elevated position for re- ceiving or discharging a cassette, and a relatively short second lever pivotally connected intermediate its ends to the first lever and having pivotally slidable connections between the ends of the second lever and the chassis and the respective side of the holder, respectively, so that the second lever con- trols the orientation of the holder relative to the chassis during swinging of the respective first lever.
