CASSETTE TAPE RECORDING AND/OR REPRODUCING APPARATUS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The body of a cassette tape recording and/or reproducing apparatus in which a cassette is mounted and a tape therein is driven for recording and/or reproducing, comprises a primary portion and a secondary portion slidably combined with the former, and an openable and closable cover which covers the cassette mounted in the body is also slidable with the secondary portion of the body. When the apparatus is out of use, the widths of the body and cover are decreased to smaller widths than those necessitated for mounting the cassette, and that the cover is prevented from opening, and only when the apparatus is in use, the widths of the body and cover are increased to minimal widths necessitated for mounting the cassette and that the cover is openable and closable.
