ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A cassette type recording apparatus is disclosed, in which a signal indicative of executing the timer-activated recording and a signal indicating whether or not a tape cassette is inserted into a cassette compartment are identified so that when the timer activated recording is to be carried out, if the tape cassette is not inserted into the cassette compartment, a cassette compartment lid is opened thus to prevent the mis-operation upon timer-activated recording and the cassette type recording apparatus can be utilized more effectively.
