Abstract An elongate mould bed comprising a plurality of mutually adjacent vertically movable moulds arranged on pivotable mould holders is used in casting concrete elements. A first carriage, travelling on rails along the mould bed, successively strips the moulds by means of horizontally extending cylinders arranged to withdraw the mould holders and spring-loaded down-pressing rods arranged to press the mould downwardly against vertically movable mould supporting elements which carry the moulds to a lower position on the mould holder. The mould is then cleaned with the use of a second carriage having a plurality of vertically movable scraper plates arranged to engage the sides of the mould, and a plurality of blow nozzles arranged to deliver a jet of air at high pressure. Inserts such as rubber plates or the like, carried in cassettes provided with an outfeed mechanism, may then be emplaced by a third carriage, which also has separate means for firmly pressing the plates inserted in the mould and sealing the mould.
