Casting equipment for continuous or semi-continuous direct chill casting of metals, in particular casting of slugs or billets of aluminium, comprising a cavity (4) with an inlet (2) which opens upwards, an intermediate overhang which extends along the mould and is thermally insulated (the hot-top 7) and an outlet with a support (5) which can be moved vertically, as well as means (10) for supplying water for chilling the molten metal. The wall of the cavity is comprised wholly or partially of a permeable material and the oil and/or gas are/is designed to be supplied through the permeable material so as to form an oil and/or gas layer between the metal and the mould wall, which prevents the metal from coming into direct contact with the mould wall. At least the part of the cavity wall (12) where the oil is supplied to the cavity is made of the same fireproof material as the hot-top (7) and constitutes an integrated part of the hot-top.
La présente invention a pour objet une installation de coulée de métal continue et semi-continue avec refroidissement direct et intense, utilisée notamment pour la coulée de pions ou de billettes d'aluminium; un moule comportant une cavité (4) présentant une ouverture (2) orientée vers le haut avec surplomb intermédiaire en saillie le long du moule, avec une isolation thermique (partie supérieure, 7) et une sortie avec support (5) à mouvement vertical, ainsi que des canalisations (10) d'amenée pour l'eau de refroidissement du métal en fusion. La paroi de la cavité est entièrement ou partiellement composée d'un matériau perméable au gaz et à l'huile utilisés pour former une couche destinée à empêcher le métal en fusion de venir en contact direct avec la paroi du moule. Cette partie (12), au moins, de la paroi de la cavité par où l'huile filtre vers l'intérieur du moule est composée du même matériau ininflammable qui compose l'isolation thermique de la partie supérieure (7) et fait partie intégrante de la partie supérieure.
