ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A casting mould block for the semi-continuous or continuous casting of large profile metal blocks has a casting mould stool containing water chambers and moulds. The water chambers have outlets in the form of gaps. Blocking tongues extend into the gaps and can be tilted from a pos- ition along one side of the gap to a position extending across it, so as to adjust the degree of opening of the gaps. The tongues are resiliently biased to their "open" positions and may be formed as parts of the springs that provide the bias. Set screws are used to adjust the positions of the tongues. The individual tongues can be adjusted independently to provide for independent control of the water flow from each slot.
