The invention provides a process and apparatus (50) for casting an artefact by forming a molten charge of metal, charging a mould with the charge to fill it sufficiently to form a single artefact, the charge solidifying in the mould. The size of the charge is selected to match the capacity of the mould so that charging the mould consumes substantially the whole charge. The apparatus (50) has a container (12) in which a molten charge of metal is held and a mould (54) into which the charge is transferred. The container and mould have matched capacities so that filling the mould with sufficient metal to form a single artefact consumes substantially the whole charge and leaves the container empty.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil (50) permettant de mouler un objet en formant une charge de métal en fusion, en chargeant un moule avec cette charge pour le remplir suffisamment en vue de former un seul produit, cette charge se solidifiant dans le moule. Le volume de la charge est sélectionné de manière à correspondre à la capacité du moule de sorte que le chargement du moule permette d'épuiser sensiblement la totalité de la charge. L'appareil (50) comporte un récipient (12) contenant une charge de métal en fusion, et un moule (54) dans lequel cette charge est transférée. Le récipient et le moule possèdent des capacités correspondantes de sorte que le remplissage du moule avec une quantité suffisante de métal pour former un seul produit permette d'épuiser sensiblement la totalité de la charge et de vider le récipient.
