The invention relates to a part for the casting of steel, said part comprising a body (2) made of carbon-containing refractory material. The part has a layer (10) which coats partially or completely the body and is appropriate to form a gas impervious layer (10a) which is oxydised and densified when brought to a temperature higher than 1000 ~C. The layer (10) is comprised of a refractory material having sintering precursors selected in the group comprising calcined alumina, reactive calcined alumina, silica fumes, clays.

L'invention concerne une pièce pour la coulée d'acier comportant un corps (2) réalisé en un matériau réfractaire comportant du carbone. Elle comporte une couche (10) revêtant partiellement ou entièrement le corps et apte à former une couche (10a) imperméable au gaz, oxydée et densifiée lorsqu'elle est portée à une température supérieure à 1000 °C. La couche (10) est constituée d'un matériau réfractaire comportant des précurseurs de frittage choisis dans le groupe comprenant l'alumine calcinée, l'alumine calcinée réactive, la fumée de silice, les argiles.
