CATADIOPTIC LENS SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A catadioptic lens which is a mirror and lens combination has reflective diochroic filter layers deposit- ed on the mirror substrate to replace the normal metallic reflective surface of the mirror. A copying maching having a scanning mirror system uses the diochroic catadi- optic lens for improving the effective input contrasts of documents of differing colors and reflectivities. By appropriately selecting the layer number, thickness, and refractive indices deposited on the mirror substrate, a continuously variable variety of band rejection filters is provided.
