ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a catalyst which is useful in the polymeriza- tion of conjugated dienes in solution. The catalyst comprises: (a) a reac- tion mixture formed by reacting a rare earth carboxylate (N(RCO2)3 with an aluminium trialkyl Image , (b) an aluminium trialkyl Image and/or an alkyl- aluminium hydride Image , and (c) a Lewis acid. The catalyst can be produced by mixing the components in any order.
