A process for the recovery of sulphur trioxide, solutions of sulphuric acid, or organic derivatives thereof, using organic compounds and/or supercritical fluids, and catalyst. The process comprises the steps of passing a mixture of SO2 and an oxygen-containing gas over an activated carbon catalyst at a temperature of at least 15 ~C and preferably at a pressure of 1-200 atmospheres, and stripping the activated carbon with either (i) a liquid organic compound selected from the group consisting of ketones, ethers, decalin, tetrahydrofurans, sulpholanes, glymes and formamides and which is non- reactive with sulphur trioxide or sulphuric acid, or (ii) a liquid organic compound capable of forming organic sulphates or sulphonates by reaction with sulphur trioxide or sulphuric acid. The process may be used to obtain sulphuric acid, or organic sulphates or sulphonates.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de récupérer le trioxyde de soufre, des solutions d'acide sulfurique ou ses dérivés organiques au moyen de composés organiques et/ou de fluides supercritiques et un catalyseur. Ce procédé consiste à faire passer un mélange de SO¿2? et un gaz contenant de l'oxygène sur un catalyseur à base de charbon activé à une température d'au moins 15 ·C et de préférence, à une pression comprise entre 1 et 200 atmosphères, puis à éliminer le charbon activé avec soit (I) un composé organique liquide sélectionné dans le groupe formé de cétones, éthers, décaline, tétrahydrofuranes, sulpholanes, glymes et formamides et qui ne réagit pas au trioxyde de soufre ou à l'acide sulfurique, soit (ii) un composé organique liquide capable de former des sulfates ou sulfonates organiques, suite à la réaction avec le trioxyde de soufre ou l'acide sulfurique. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir de l'acide sulfurique, des sulfates ou sulfonates organiques.
