-39- ABSTRACT The catalyst and process for simultaneously hydrotreating and hydrodewaxing of hydrocarbons of this invention relates to the catalytic treatment of hydrocarbons in the presence of hydrogen and under conditions of elevated temperature and pressure. A method of treating raw shale oil by first contacting the oil with a hydrotreating catalyst to reduce organosuifur and organonitrogen content, and then contacting the shale oil with a hydrodewaxing catalyst, is known. However, this method also results in undesirable proportions of organosuifur and organonitrogon components, and results in an excessive degree of indiscriminate hydro- cracking of hydrocarbons other than waxy paraffins and an Inefficient use of hydrogen in lowering the pour point of the hydrocarbons treated The present invention overcomes these problems by providing catalyst compositions and process conditions for selectively hydrocracking the waxy paraffins and substantially reducing organosuifur and organonitrogc- compounds in hydrocarbon feedstocks.
