CATALYST AND PROCESS FOR THE POLYMERIZATION OF ETHYLENE AND TERMINAL OLEFINS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel supported catalyst and process for polymerization of ethylene, terminal olefins or their mixtures which gives unusually high polymer yields that comprises contacting said olefin or said mixture with (a) the reaction product of a Group IVB or VB transition metal compound with either (1) a chlorine-substituted carboxylic acid salt of magnesium or (2) its reaction product with an aluminum halide and (b) an organo- aluminum compound promoter.
