The invention pertains to a carrier composition comprising (a) at least 30 wt.% of a synthetic cracking component, based on the total weight of the carrier composition, which comprises oxidic compounds of one or more trivalent metallic elements, tetravalent metallic elements, and divalent metallic elements, said cracking component comprising elemental clay platelets with an average diameter of 1 µm or less and an average degree of stacking of 20 platelets per stack or less, and/or comprising a cogel with a saponite content C A of less than 60 %, in which the total of sodium and potassium amounts to less than 1 wt.%, based on the total weight of the cogel, and (b) 1 -- 25 wt.% of a zeolite Y, based on the total weight of the carrier composition, with a unit cell size below 24.35 .ANG.. The invention further pertains to a catalyst comprising said carrier composition and at least a hydrogenation metal, and a process for converting heavy feedstock into middle distillates using said catalyst.

L'invention concerne une composition de support comprenant (a) aumoins 30 % en poids d'un constituant de craquage synthétique, basé sur le poids total de la composition du support, lequel comprend des composés d'oxydation d'un ou plusieurs éléments métalliques trivalents, éléments métalliques tétravalents et éléments métalliques divalents, ledit constituant de craquage comprenant des plaquettes d'argile élémentaire ayant un diamètre moyen de 1 DOLLAR (g)mm ou inférieur et un degré d'empilement moyen de 20 plaquettes parpile ou moins, et/ou comprenant un cogel avec une teneur en saponite CA inférieure à 60 %, dans lequel le total du sodium et dupotassium s'élève à moins de 1 % en poids, sur la base du poids total du cogel, et (b) 1-25 % en poids d'une zéolite Y, basé sur le poids total de la composition du support, avec une grosseur decellule unitaire inférieure à 24,35 ANGSTROM . L'invention concerne également un catalyseur comprenant ladite composition de support et aumoins un métal d'hydrogénation, ainsi qu'un procédé de conversion de la charge d'alimentation lourde en distillats moyens à l'aide dudit catalyseur.
