A catalyst suitable for use in various reforming reactions of hydrocarbons; and a process for producing hydrogen or a synthesis gas which comprises using this catalyst to reform a hydrocarbon. The catalyst comprises an alumina support containing cerium oxide and supported thereon (a) at least one platinum-group element ingredient selected among ruthenium, platinum, rhodium, palladium, and iridium, (b) a cobalt ingredient and/or nickel ingredient, and as an optional ingredient (c) an alkaline earth metal ingredient. The catalyst is used to conduct the steam reforming, thermal self-reforming, partial oxidative reforming, or carbon dioxide reforming of a hydrocarbon to produce hydrogen or a synthesis gas.
Cette invention concerne un catalyseur pouvant être utilisé dans diverses réactions de reformage d'hydrocarbures ainsi qu'un procédé de production d'hydrogène ou d'un gaz de synthèse faisant intervenir ce catalyseur pour le reformage d'un hydrocarbure. Le catalyseur selon l'invention comprend un support d'alumine renfermant un oxyde de cérium et sur lequel on trouve (a) au moins un élément du groupe platine pris parmi le ruthénium, le platine, le rhodium, le palladium et l'iridium, (b) un ingrédient cobalt et/ou un ingrédient nickel et, éventuellement, (c) un ingrédient de métal alcalino-terreux. Le catalyseur s'utilise pour effectuer un reformage à la vapeur, un auto-reformage thermique, un reformage oxydant partiel ou un reformage du dioxyde de carbone en vue de l'obtention d'hydrogène ou d'un gaz de synthèse.
