Disclosed is a catalyst which is more highly capable of oxidizing mercury than a conventional catalyst without the need of being used in a large amount and without the need of increasing its SO2-oxidizing ability. Specifically disclosed is a catalyst for oxidation of metal mercury, which comprises a composite oxide of molybdenum and vanadium (e.g., MoV2O8) as the catalytically active main ingredient, wherein the composite oxide of molybdenum and vanadium is supported in the layered form only on the surface of a sheet-like or honeycomb-like porous carrier. The porous carrier comprises Ti and W and has a function of a denitrification catalyst as a whole.
L'invention concerne un catalyseur qui permet de mieux oxyder le mercure qu'un catalyseur classique, sans qu'il soit nécessaire de l'utiliser en grande quantité ni d'augmenter sa capacité d'oxydation du SO2. L'invention concerne en particulier un catalyseur pour oxydation du mercure métallique, qui comprend un oxyde composé de molybdène et de vanadium (par exemple, MoV2O8) comme principal ingrédient catalytiquement actif, ledit oxyde composé de molybdène et de vanadium étant soutenu dans la forme en couche seulement sur la surface d'un support poreux de type feuille ou structure en nid d'abeilles. Le support poreux comprend du Ti et du W et a généralement la fonction de catalyseur de dénitrification.
