The present invention is directed to a catalyst being formed of a porous supporter supporting alkali metals, Ti and noble metal, or further supporting at least one of a rare earth metal and magnesium, being disposed in a flow passage of an internal combustion engine, and being used to purify NOx contained in the exhaust gas. The catalyst of the present invention has excellent NOx resistance not only to the exhaust gas burnt with a stoichiometric air-to-fuel ratio or rich conditions, but to the exhaust gas burnt with the lean conditions, and furthermore has a high resistivity to poisoning of SOx slightly contained in the fuel.
La présente invention concerne un catalyseur constitué d'un support poreux portant des métaux alcalins, du Ti et un métal noble, ou portant également au moins un métal de terre rare et du magnésium, disposé dans une voie de passage des gaz d'échappement dans un moteur à combustion interne, et utilisé pour purifier les NOx contenus dans ces gaz. Non seulement le catalyseur de la présente invention offre-t-il une excellente résistance aux NOx présents dans les gaz d'échappement issus de la combustion d'un mélange riche, c.-à-d. rapport stoechiométrique air-essence, mais il est également efficace dans le cas des gaz d'échappement provenant de la combustion d'un mélange pauvre, et de plus, il présente une résistance élevée à l'empoisonnement par les SOx présents en faible concentration dans le carburant.
