A honeycomb catalyst for effecting catalytic reduction and removal of nitrogen oxides in waste gas in the presence of ammonia, which honeycomb catalyst (I) contains a catalytically active substance comprising 60 to 99.5% by weight of a binary oxide containing titanium and silicon and 40 to 0.5% by weight of the oxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of vanadium, tungsten, molybdenum, copper, manganese, cerium, and tin, (II) possesses an opening ratio in the cross section of said catalyst in the range of 80 to 90%, (III) has a thickness of partition walls separating through holes in the range of 0.2 to 0.8 mm, and (IV) possesses pores comprising substantially two independent pore groups each of a uniform pore diameter, such that the pore volume occupied by one pore group having a pore diameter in the range of 0.01 to 0.03 µm accounts for a proportion in the range of 50 to 80% of the total pore volume and the pore volume occupied by the other pore group having a pore diameter in the range of 0.8 to 4 µm accounts for a proportion in the range of 10 to 30% of the total pore volume.

Catalyseur en nids d'abeilles pour la réduction catalytique et l'élimination des oxydes d'azote dans les gaz résiduels en présence d'ammoniac. Ledit catalyseur (I) contient une substance catalytiquement active, renfermant 60 à 99,5 % en poids d'un oxyde binaire contenant du titane et du silicium, et 40 à 0,5 % en poids de l'oxyde d'au moins un métal choisi dans le groupe constitué du vanadium, du tungstène, du molybdène, du cuivre, du manganèse, du cérium et de l'étain, (II) possède un taux d'ouverture dans la section transversale dudit catalyseur de l'ordre de 80 à 90 %, (III) a des parois d'une épaisseur de 0,2 à 0,8 mm séparant les trous, et (IV) possède des pores formant essentiellement deux groupes de pores indépendants, celui avec des pores d'un diamètre de 0,01 à 0,03 microns représentant une fraction de 50 à 80 % du volume total de pores, l'autre groupe avec des pores d'un diamètre de 0,8 à 4 microns constituant 10 à 30 % de ce même volume.
