A process for the production of light olefins by means of the a steam cracking reaction of hydrocarbon charges selected from naphtha, kerosene, atmospheric gas oil, vacuum gas oil and mixtures thereof, in the presence of a catalyst consisting of pure mayenite having the general formula: 12CaO.cndot.7Al2O3 with an X-ray diffraction spectrum as indicated in the following Table: (see above table) operating at a temperature ranging from 720 to 800°C, at a pressure ranging from 1.1 to 1.8 absolute Atm and for a contact time ranging from 0.07 to 0.2 sec.

La présente concerne un procédé pour la production d'oléfines légères par une réaction de craquage à la vapeur de charges d'hydrocarbures sélectionnées à partir de naphta, de kérosène, de gasoil atmosphérique, de gasoil sous vide et de leurs mélanges, en présence d'un catalyseur constitué de mayenite pure ayant la formule générale 12CaO.cndot.7Al2O3 avec un spectre de diffraction aux rayons X comme il est indiqué dans le tableau suivant : (voir le tableau ci-dessus), dans une plage de température allant de 720 à 800 °C et à une pression absolue de 1,1 à 1,8 atm, pour un temps de contact compris entre 0,07 et 0,2 seconde.
