ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A catalyst for the selective reduction of nitric oxide with ammonia from an intimate mixture of at least three metals in the form of their oxides, namely, titanium, tungsten and at least one of vanadium, iron, niobium, molybdenum in an atomic ratio of Ti to the other metals of 1:0.001 to 1. A special product obtainable by flame hydrolysis is used as oxide of titanium which is impregnated with solutions of the salts of the other metals, dried at elevated temperature and calcined.
