Abstract of the Disclosure A catalyst suitable for cracking heavy hydro- carbon oils is obtained by roasting pellets of nickel- containing ore at a temperature between about 850°C. and about 1200°C. The catalyst obtained is resistant to pulverization during the oil processing.
