3341 ABSTRACT Catalysts having excellent resistance to exposure to high temperatures in the range of 900 to 1100° C. are fabricated by dispersing a combination of at least one platinum group metal, active alumina, cerium oxide, a barium compound and a zirconium compound on a refractory monolith, the barium and zirconium compounds cooperating to inhibit sintering of the platinum group metal and cerium oxide while maintaining the oxygen storage effect of cerium oxide.
