This invention makes possible substantially continuous flow of uniformly distributed hydrogen and hydrocarbon liquid across a densely packed catalyst bed (10) to fill substantially the entire volume of the reactor (11) by introduced the liquid and gas as alternate annular rings at a rate insufficient to ebullate the bed. Catalysts are selected by density, size and shape at a design maximum feed rate of fluids to prevent the ebullation of packed bed. The alternate annular rings flow across the full area of the bed. The catalyst flow in a continuous, downward plug-like manner is achieved by the introduction of the catalyst at the top of the bed in a laminarly flowing liquid on a periodic or semicontinuous basis. Catalyst removal is also achieved by laminar flow in the same fashion from the bottom. The catalyst used produces a plug-flowing, substantially packed bed.
L'invention permet d'obtenir un écoulement sensiblement continu d'hydrogène et d'hydrocarbure liquide réparti uniformément sur un lit (10) de catalyseur à garnissage dense, afin de remplir sensiblement la totalité du volume du réacteur (11) par introduction du liquide et du gaz sous la forme d'anneaux alternés à une vitesse insuffisante pour porter le lit à ébulition. On sélectionne les catalyseurs par densité, taille et forme à un débit maximum type de fluides pour empêcher l'ébullition du lit garni. Les anneaux alternés s'écoulent à travers la totalité de la surface du lit. L'écoulement du catalyseur à la manière d'un bouchon continu vers le bas est obtenu par l'introduction du catalyseur au niveau de la partie supérieure du lit dans un liquide s'écoulant de manière laminaire sur une base périodique ou semi-continue. On extrait également le catalyseur par écoulement laminaire de la même manière à partir du fond. Le catalyseur utilisé produit un lit sensiblement garni dont l'écoulement présente un effet bouchon.
