ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a novel method for the removal of the catalyst from a polyphenylene oxide polymerization mixture. The novel method is based on the discovery that ammonia and carbon dioxide may be employed to extract the catalyst from a polyphenylene ether reaction mixture.
