CATALYST SUPPORT MATERIAL CONTAINING LANTHANIDES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A catalyst undercoat (wash-coat) material comprising a plurality of stable, highly porous, co-precipitated ag- glomerated crystallites comprised of integral admixture of alumina and at least one lanthanide oxide. The co- precipitated material may be converted to a slurry and used as an undercoat or wash-coat atop a prefabricated low surface area support. Alternatively, the co-precipitated material may be compressed or extruded into various geometric forms and these can be used as a support and as such serve both as the support and the undercoat.
