ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: New catalysts for the polymerization and copolymeri- zation of olefins are disclosed. The catalysts are prepared from (1) a new class of metal compounds containing at least one atom of Mg, Mn or Ca and at least one atom of Ti, V or Zr and (2) organometallic compounds of metals belonging to one of Groups I to III of the Mendelyeev Periodic Table.
