Disclosed is a novel compound that is a reaction product of (A) an organosilicon compound having an Si-N bond of the formula: R(4-q)Si(NR1R2)q (in which R is aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aryl, aralkyl or alkylaryl group; q is 1 or 2; R1 is R, Si(R)3 or -CO-NRR3; R2 is H or R or is linked to R1; and R3 is R or Si(R)3), and (B) a nucleophilic fluorination agent such as an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal fluoride, phosphazenium fluoride, aminophosphonium fluoride or the like, at an (A)/(B) ratio of 1/100 to 100/1. The compound is useful as a catalyst for preparing a polyisocyanate containing an isocyanurate group.
