Mo-3710 LeA 28,023 CATALYSTS FOR REMOVING SULFUR COMPOUNDS FROM INDUSTRIAL GASES, A PROCESS FOR THEIR PRODUCTION AND THEIR USE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Catalysts for removing sulfur compounds almost completely from industrial gases are made by impregnating a suitable support with an oxide of at least one element selected from Group VIB of the Periodic System of Elements and at least two other oxides of elements selected from Groups IB, IIB, VIB and VIIIB of the Periodic System of Elements. Industrial gases in which sulfur compounds are present are brought into contact with these catalysts under conditions such that the sulfur compounds are converted to elemental sulfur and thus removed from the industrial gas.
